A listing of equipment used by the Ghost Adventures Crew.

These may be separated into individual articles as more information becomes available.

Black light

A black light emits long wave (UV-A) ultraviolet light and not much visible light. The lamp has a violet filter material, either on the bulb or in a separate glass filter in the lamp housing, which blocks most visible light and allows through UV.

DAS-RT-EVP

DAS-RT-EVP is a real-time digital EVP recorder with simultaneous playback and spirit box capability.

Dark light

Digital recorder

A digital recorder is a piece of equipment used by paranormal investigators to capture EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena). They are used every episode.

Notes

There are several different models that are used, including Olympus VN-3100PC and Sony.
It captures spirit voices which are speaking within the white noise.
A digital recorder is much better than a tape recorder because you can erase the recording session instead of replacing the tape.

Ed Box

E-Field Pods

E-Field Pods detect the electric field that surrounds a static charge.

EMF Detector

An Electromagnetic Field or Fluctuation (EMF) Detector can measure AC electromagnetic fields, which are usually emitted from man-made sources such as electrical wiring.

EM Pump

Theories suggest that certain energy can provide "fuel" for spirits to communicate or manifest themselves. EM Pumps are a safer way to provide the energy they need. It creates a low level magnetic field in varying pulses and frequencies.

EM Vortex

The EM Vortex creates a Oscillating EM field from .2 Hz to 250 Hz, acting like an EMF beacon for spirits.

Full Spectrum DVR

The Full Spectrum DVR allows you to record in a natural setting without IR light contamination. True full spectrum cameras can see in the UV spectrum, the visible light spectrum and into the infrared spectrum.

Gold Beryllium Microphone

The gold beryllium microphone has magnets placed all around it and beryllium crystals placed inside, in order to create a magnetic field making it easier for entities to communicate.

Infrared Camera

Infrared Cameras take digital still images using infrared light.

Infrared Flashlight

Infrared flashlights can emit stationary infrared light for 200+ hours.

Infrared Video Camera

Infrared Video Cameras have real-time temperature calibrated movie recording with enhanced detail presentation.

Instrumental Trans-Communication

During "Old Idaho Penitentiary", a static video camera captured a a dark humanoid silhouette on a TV screen through instrumental trans-communication (ITC).

Kinect

Paranormal technology inventor Bill Chappell outfitted the Kinect's 3D motion tracking camera with custom software specifically designed to seek out and read human forms.

MEL Meter

The MEL Meter monitors AC/DC EMF disturbances and temperature using a precision thermocouple sensor. The instrument uses a mini telescopic antenna which radiates an independent EM field. When the field is interrupted by conductive materials, an audible alarm with corresponding LED’s alerts the user.

Mini-DVR

The Mini DVR Detects PIR (Passive Infrared) energy and motion fluctuations. This device has an audible alarm (if enabled), records audio, video,takes pictures when something is detected. Perfect for monitoring hallways, stairs, rooms during an investigation. All evidence is date and time stamped.

Motion Detectors

Motion detectors detect moving objects, particularly people and are often integrated as a component of a system that automatically performs a task or alerts a user of motion in an area.

Ovilus

The Ovilus captures energy or electromagnetic waves and converts them to phonemes or words.

PX Device

The PX Device is a blend between the Ovilus and the Puck. This device is used as a tool for verbal communication since it has a built in dictionary. The theory is that spirits may be able to communicate with this device by changing the environment which in turn may produce the proper words within the built-in dictionary on the PX device.

Paranormal Pod

4-in-1 Paranormal Pods detect subtle energy vibrations, seismic activity, and the electric field that surrounds a static charge.

SLS Camera

The Xcam SLS is a Structured Light Sensor Camera System. It is a portable camera with a variety of sensors. It first appeared on "Saint James Hotel".

Spirit Box

The Spirit Box is an adjustable frequency sweep device designed by Gary Galka with "white noise" distributed between frequency steps. The Model P-SB7 is the first production built Spirit Box designed exclusively for Paranormal enthusiasts. The P-SB7 made its premier debut on Ghost Adventures Live show from the "Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum" on October 30, 2009. Since then, it has become very popular and can be seen frequently on Ghost Adventures where Zak continues to receive consistent relevant responses to specific questions.

Tape recorder

A tape recorder is a piece of equipment that can be used to capture EVPs. However, with recent technology developments, more paranormal investigators use digital recorders in place of these.

Notes

Ghost Adventures: The Beginning is the only instance in which the Ghost Adventures Crew uses a tape recorder.

Thermometers

An infrared thermometer is a sensor that measures an object's temperature without physically touching it. Non-contact infrared (IR) thermometers use infrared technology to quickly and conveniently measure the surface temperature.
